Compagnie Punta Negra (Kongo) - African dance workshop

The workshop introduces the rhythm of African dance (the dance of Central Africa, Congo region), which makes it a kind of open doors to Africa. African dance is directed at everybody, since it is natural and based on fun. At the same time it is sensuous. It is based on senses much more than on dance techniques. Dance is strongly united with music. Both arts derive inspiration from reality and complement each other. African dance is present during all important events, it is a celebrative ritual. It is not only a folk dance, but also a specific dialogue between man and the universe: the dancer derives his energy from the earth and distributes it around his body. In a society that uses words and visions as a means of expression, dance is also a tribute to ancestors.
