archive of School Theatre ACADEMIC YEAR 2004/2005 2005 4-9 July Wiesław Czołpiński – teacher in ATB and Paweł Chomczyk – graduate of ATB conduct International Summer School under the title PUPPET-ACTOR-PUPPET, domination, confrontation, symbiosis. Participants are atudents and actors from Latvia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Belgium. 1-10 July The first year students take part in 17emes Rencontres Festival de Théâtre Européen in Grenoble (France) showing Genezis and By ourselves. They also participate in Irish dance and acrobatics workshop. Teacher of WSL –Artur Dwulit - conducts a rod puppet manipulation workshop. 20-25 June WSL organizes the subsequent edition of International Summer School - titled this year: PUPPET- ACTOR-PUPPET, domination, confrontation, symbiosis. Participants are students from Arrivano dal Mare! – Cervia (Italy). 15-18 June The second year students take part in the International Festival of Children and Youth Theatres – Wigraszek 2005 in Suwalki (Poland). They show Baśń o cesarskim koniu... based on J.Ch.Andersen fairy-tale which was directed by the 4th year student od Directing – Ireneusz Maciejewski. 11 - 17 June Students of the 3rd year participate in the VIth Internationales Figurentheater Festival - Blickwechsel in Magdeburg (Germany). They show a theatrical miniature The Fisherman. 31 May - 3 June The 4th year students - Natalia Panasiuk and Katarzyna Siergiej take part in the international project, organised by Théâtre de la Marionette á Paris and Le Bouffon Théâtre, within the framework of TFE. Cycle of a two week meetings will come to an end during the International Festival in Wels (Austria) in March 2006. Project called Make yourself at home relies on adapting the private apartments for theatrical aims and crossing the intimacy borders of its inhabitants. 27-29 May Group of students of the 3rd and 4th year participates in the International Festival Children and Puppets smile together - 2005 in Kowno (Lithuania). They show etiudes: Shadow of the apple tree, cast: Marta Jasińska, Ewa Trochim, Stefan Sochoń, CUD-NIE, cast: Henryk Hryniewicki and Ulicznik, cast: Henryk Hryniewicki. Lesław Piecka - teacher of the Theatre Academy in Białystok, conducts the string puppet workshop Actor and marionette. 23-28 May Students of the 3rd year of Directing at ATB and the 3rd year students of Scenic Design at the Academy of Theatre Arts from Sankt Petersburg working on their collective work. The result of their co-operation is supposed to be 3 small forms. Now they meet in Sankt Petersburg and prepare a project of scenic design for the screenplays made by Polish students. Andersen, under direction of Ireneusz Maciejewski - the 4th year student of Directing. 21 May In the School Theatre - Patty Diphusa - scenic project of the famous Spanish director - Pedro Almodovar, prepared with Ewa Kasprzyk and Lola Lou (Teatr Rozmaitości - Warsaw). Performance is shown within the framework of the Days of Contemporary Art celebrated in Białystok. 14 May The last meeting of the cycle Białysztuk. In the Theatre Academy are shown presentations: Mystical, Barbaric, Weary - Theatre Action DZRT, Maidenhood, according to Witold Gombrowicz - Alina Czyżewska, Polish Drama - Marta Guśniowska - meeting with author and reading of drama. 14 May In the Puppet Theatre in Olsztyn, the first presentation of a performance Blue Bird, according to Maurice Materlinck, directed by Andrzej Rozhin, with participation of the 4th year student - Marcin Młynarczyk. 13 May Ângela Ribeiro (Portugal) finishes her artistic training in the Puppetry Art Department. 3 May In the Il Marine Theatre in Narwa (Estonia), the first presentation of the diploma performance under the title Devil's fiddle, according to Natalia Golebska, directed by Robert Drobniuch - the 5th year student. 18 April The first presentation of the diploma performance of the 4th year students entitled Mamidlo according to the Perfume Patricka Süskinda and To hunger Sarah Kane directed by Marek Ciunel. Cast: Anna Kaźmierowska, Sylwia Oksiuta, Natalia Panasiuk, Katarzyna Siergiej, Anna Szawiel, Jakub Jan Ehrlich, András Veres. 17 April In the Puppet Theatre Banialuka in Bielsko-Biala the first presentation of the performance Siala baba mak in the direction of Jacek Malinowski - the 5th year student of Directing. 16-21 April Ireneusz Maciejewski - the graduate of the Directing and the student of the 4th year of Acting participates in the IV International Festival of Soloists in Lodz (Poland). He shows there miniature Emil and Maciek directed by Monika Micsa (Hungary) - the 5th year student of Directing. 15-16 April The next edition of the Bialysztuk. In the Puppetry Department are presented: the miniature Under eyelids of Maria Żynel and Tomasz Czarnecki - students of the 3rd year; Wymrocza - photos exhibition of the authorship of Marcin Bikowski - the 3rd year student; the lecture of Grzegorz Janikowski and the meeting with Radosław Dobrowolski with the reading of the drama. 30 March First presentation of the diploma performance made by the 4th year students under the title Poil de Carotte - adapted and directed by Eric Bass (USA) from the novel by Jules Renard. Cast: Łukasz Bugowski, Kata Csató, Aleksandra Cybulska, Katarzyna Gałasińska, Agnieszka Sobolewska, Tobias Weishaupt (Stuttgart) 22 March The meeting with Eric Bass - founder of Sandglass Theater (Putney, Green Mountain State, USA). 21 March On the BTL stage performance of the Theatre Griff Babszinhaz (Hungary) entitled Daughter of the Sun and son of the Moon, directed by Kata Csató and András Veres - the 4th year students of Directing. 18 March In H.Ch. Andersen Theatre in Lublin the first presentation of Bird's Seym based on Mantigh ot-tajr Fariduddina Mohammada Attara, directed by Wlodzimierz Fełenczak, with the participation of the 4th year student - Tomasz Czaplarski. 15 March The meeting with Mischa Twichin (England) - co-author of the Shunt Theatre, who plays in performances made with co-operation with National Theatre in London. He makes also theatrical research in Goldsmiths College, University of London. 5 March The next edition of the cycle of performances within the framework of the project Białysztuk. In the Theatre Academy are presented Unknown monologues (directed by Robert Drobniuch), Until doomsday - the ballad about flying Dutchman - the Doomsday Company (directed by Michael Vogel), Polish contemporary drama - Christopher Bizio - reading of drama and meeting with the author. 2 March Eric Bass (USA) begins rehearsals of the diploma performance of the 4th year students titled Poil de Carotte based on the novel written by Jules Renard. 14-19 February Fabrizio Montecchi (Italy) - co-author and manager of the Gioco Vita Theatre conducts the weekly workshop for the second year students on the shade theatre. 14 February Ângela Ribeiro (Portugal) begins a half-year long artistic training in the Puppetry Art Department. 7-13 February The 3rd year students - Maria Żynel and Marcin Bikowski participate in Charleville-Mezieres (France) in the performance rehearsals within the framework of the international theatrical project "Babel" (TFE), 22 January Group of directors takes part in the theatrical workshop Warten auf Träume directed by Achim Freyer (Germany) - in the Wielki Theatre in Warsaw. 19 January On the occasion of 30 years od existance of Puppetry Art Department in Bialystok, appears the calendar for a year 2005. 9 January First presentation of the diploma performance made by the fourth year students under the title Warstwy - directed by Leszek Mądzik. Participants come from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Moldova, Ucraine, Russia, Bulgaria. They take part in lectures and workshops organized also by the Theatre Academy. 2-6 November The 3rd year students: Maria Żynel i Marcin Bikowski participate in the first meeting of the international theatre project Babel - in Tournai, Belgium. Premiere of a performance created by young artists from Poland, Belgium, France, Greece and Italy is expected in Wels (Austria) in March 2006. 31 October - 8 November Group of the 3rd year students take part in polish-french theatre workshop (Charleville-Mezieres-France), concerned dramaturgy, light and sound. Workshop is realized according to the project Nova Polska which presents polish culture in France. They participate in the scientific and dramatic lectures. Workshop is accompanied by the small forms presentations, prepared by polish and french students. 11 October On the stage of the School Theatre - presentation of a performance played by the Paris group - La Machine, titled - Ivonne Princesse de Borgogne - based on the novel of Witold Gombrowicz. 4-15 October Joanna Braun - eminent Polish stage designer conducts a workshop with the 3rd year students of Directing. It concerns co-operation between a stage designer and a director. The workshop ends with a performance titled: Ewa Braun. 4 October Solemn inauguration of a new academic year 2004/2005 with a participation of rector of Warsaw Theatre Academy - prof. Lech Sliwonik, Bialystok city authorities, and province authorities. The inaugural lecture under the title People and spaces delivered Joanna Braun. 2-7 August In Cervia (Italy), in Atelier delle Figure/Scuola per Burattinai, Lesław Piecka, teacher of Theatre Academy in Bialystok, conducts 30 hours workshop of string puppet animation (assists second year student Paweł Mróz). 28 July - 1 August A few of the students of the II nd and IV th year takes a part in the festival of puppet theatres in Arrivano dal mare! in Cervia (Italy). Marcin Bikowski shows Red magic - the string puppet miniature and Paweł Mróz - marionette etiude Puppeteer. Their performances are concerned with the international project - Teatro Figura Europa. Additionally with Dagmara Sowa, Marcin Bartnikowski, Pawel Chomczyk and in co-operation with Marek Waszkiel, students participate in the seminary under the title: traditional theatre and theatre of research demonstrating the Academy method of playing the glove puppet. 28 June - 3 July The Puppetry Department of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy organizes International Summer School concerning Puppet Manipulation. Classes of mastership in manipulation and playing with objects and other unconventional forms are conducted by: Piotr Damulewicz and Wiesław Czołpiński. In workshop participate students and young pupeeters from: Spain, Holland, Latvia, Germany, United States, Sweden and Italy. 22-27 June The Puppetry Department of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy organizes The International Festival of Puppetry Schools with participation of 21 schools from 19 countries and more than 400 participants from almost 40 countries.
